about the Republican review-competition of final qualifying works
in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of personnel training "Architecture and construction"
General provisionsThe review-competition of final qualifying works (hereinafter referred to as the competition) is held among university graduates who have completed their studies this year. The aim of the competition is to improve the quality of training of specialists, the development of creative abilities of students, as well as the improvement of educational and independent work in combination with general educational and scientific and methodological activities.
The competition has the status of a Republican and is held annually in the autumn semester on the basis of KazGASA. The official languages of the contest are Kazakh, Russian and English.
Working bodies of the competitionOrganizing CommitteeThe chairman of the organizing committee is the rector of KazGASA, the deputy is the Executive Secretary of the EMA, the members are deans, academic and associate professors of the faculties of Architecture, Design, General Construction, Construction Technologies, Infrastructure, and Management.
In addition, the organizing committee may include representatives of public organizations and the Student Youth Committee. The organizing Committee develops measures for the competition of final qualifying works, determines the deadlines, develops the program, and forms the remaining working bodies of the competition.
Immediately before the contest and during its work, the organizing committee takes measures to ensure the accommodation and catering of the participants of the contest, to prepare the dispositional hall, to supply technical means and consumables, their maintenance and repair, to comply with the order of the competition, the safety of expositions, as well as to attract extra-budgetary funds to finance the events of the competition.
Registration CommissionThe registration commission is created by the members of the organizing committee. Its functions include:
2.2.1 Registration of participants of the competition, reconciliation of documents with application data, issuance of documents for accommodation and meals of participants, as well as the program of the competition, marking of travel certificates with the provision, if necessary, of assistance in the visa regime.
2.2.2 Verification of compliance of the terms of the competition with these Regulations.
2.2.3 Affixing the grades received by each work and recording them in the protocol.
The decisions of the registration commission are recorded and included in the competition report.
The JuryTo evaluate the final works in creative specialties, a public reference group is created, which includes reputable specialists of creative unions and architectural design companies, leading practitioners.
The qualification works of graduates of engineering specialties are evaluated by a competition commission, which includes leading specialists and managers of enterprises and firms, the main employers providing jobs to graduates.
In addition, the public reference and competition commission includes representatives of participating universities and KazGASA.
The functions of the jury include:
- coordination of the work on the review-competition;
- verification and evaluation of participants' works;
- preparation of the final document on the results of the review competition;
- solving other issues related to the review competition and summing up its results.
The decisions of the jury are recorded and signed by the members of the jury and the chairmen.
Appeal CommissionThe Appeal Commission is headed by one of the most qualified and reputable specialists of KazGASA. The appeal commission also includes representatives of the public reference and competition commission and one of the representatives of the participating university (by decision of the organizing committee).
The functions of the appeals commission include:
- Consideration of appeals submitted by contestants.
- Making changes or saving estimates of re-reviewed works.
The Commission has the right to raise, leave unchanged or lower the assessment of the work for which an appeal has been filed.
The work of the commission is recorded and signed by the members of the appeal commission and its chairman.
The procedure for organizing and conducting the competitionRegistration of applications and registrationThe deadline for submitting an application (deadline) for participation in the review competition of diploma projects is two weeks before the review competition.
To ensure the sufficiency of participants in each of the nominations, consider that the competition for this nomination took place provided that at least two universities participated in the competition and the number of works was at least 5.
Participating universities send applications to KazGASA for participation in the competition, in which they indicate the full name of the student, the topic of the final work. The application also specifies the full name, academic degree, title, and position of the head of the final qualifying work, Full name, academic degree, title, and position of the teacher accompanying the work for the competition (Appendices 1 and 2).
In order to comply with the norms of the number of projects submitted for the competition (1 work from 15 graduates), universities provide a certified certificate of the number of students and the number of graduates of the last year in each specialty (educational program), and information on the duration of training (a copy of the approved RUPS).The exposition part of the diploma projects of the specialties (educational program) "architecture" and "Design" is presented on a tablet 80 x 60 cm. (including an abstract in Russian and English), an explanatory note is submitted for engineering specialties (educational program).
The graphic part of the diploma projects of engineering specialties (educational program) are presented in A3 and A4 format, in addition, a CD with a recording of the graphic materials of the submitted works (in JPG or TIF formats) and a single list of these works in the Microsoft Word text editor in DOC format is presented.The works designed in accordance with the approved requirements, in Russian / Kazakh and English languages are allowed to participate in the competition. The translation must be carried out on the basis of approved specialized terminology dictionaries.If the registration commission finds a discrepancy between the application and the contestant's documents, the latter are not allowed to participate in the competition.Upon arrival in KazGASA, participants are registered with the registration commission, hand over travel certificates for marking, if necessary, solve visa issues, receive documents for accommodation, meals, and the program of the competition. After that, with the help of KazGASA employees, they place their exposition in the designated place.Discussion of criteria assessmentsAfter registration and placement at the meetings of the public reference and the competition commission, criteria assessments of final qualifying works are discussed.
Conducting the competitionThe evaluation of the works is carried out on the second day of the competition by the decisions of the public reference and the competition commission, which evaluate the submitted works in points.Diploma projects submitted for the competition remain placed in their exposition until the final results of the competition are summed up and its results are announced.
Decisions are recorded and entered into the minutes of the jury meeting.
If necessary, the chairmen of the public reference and the competition commission accept applications to the appeal commission.
*Diploma projects of universities-debtors for the payment of EMA membership fees are allowed to participate in the review competition only for familiarization as poster presentations.The procedure for summing up the results of the competitionThe prizes are distributed according to the nominations (Appendix 3), the number of prizes depends on the number of participants in each nomination: I place - 7%; II place - 14%; III place - 21%.
At the final meeting, the results of the competition are considered, reports and opinions on the organization of the competition are heard, recommendations for improving the organization of the competition are made.
The results of the competition are summed up by the chairman of the organizing committee. Students who have won prizes in the respective nominations are awarded the titles of laureates of the competition and awarded diplomas in a solemn atmosphere.
Material support of the competitionFinancing of the preparation and holding of the review-competition of final qualifying works is carried out at the expense of KazGASA, trustees of educational institutions, membership fees of universities-members of the EMA, contributions of sponsors, as well as individuals.
The travel expenses of the authors of the competition papers and accompanying teachers are paid for by the participating universities.
The cost estimate for the competition is developed by the organizing committee and approved by the chairman of the organizing committee.
