Amirlan Aydarbekovich Kusainov was born on September 25, 1957 in the city of Alma-Ata in a family of scientists: the linguist Kusainov Aydarbek Nurumovich and the doctor Kusainova Gaziza Kaskaevna.
In 1979 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of MISS (Moscow), specializing in civil engineer. In 1983 he defended his candidate's thesis, and in 1994 - his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Discrete-continuous models of dissipative systems of dynamics and seismic stability" at TsNIISK (Moscow).
He began his career in 1983 at the Alma-Ata Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering (AASI): he worked as a senior researcher, assistant, associate professor of the Department of Structural Mechanics.
In 1987-88, 1991, 1992 he passed a scientific internship at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), at the University of Kyoto (Japan), at Jilin University (China).
Since 1994 he worked as the head of the department "Building mechanics", since 1997 as the vice-rector for scientific and methodological work of KazGASA. In the same year, A. A. Kusainov was elected President of the Kazakh-American University (KAU), newly created in Kazakhstan on his initiative, which for the first time provides opportunities for obtaining higher education in Kazakhstan (bachelor's and master's) in English in accordance with the educational standards of US universities ...
In January 2000, he was appointed rector of the Kazakh State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and since 2002 was the President of the Kazakh Head Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering (KazGASA). Since 2020 - Honorary President of KazGASA.
In 1995-97. worked in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan as Deputy Head of the Internal Policy Department, where he oversaw all education issues. In the same years, he was a member of the Presidium of the State Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, worked as a UNESCO expert and chairman of a subgroup of the European Education Foundation. Under the leadership of A. A. Kusainov, 43 legislative and regulatory documents in the field of education in the Republic of Kazakhstan were prepared and published. Amirlan Aidarbekovich was a co-author of a number of new directions in the reform of higher education in Kazakhstan at that time: the consolidation of universities, the credit education system, a new mechanism for credit financing of universities, the concept of the Eurasian University, the introduction of American and European education programs in Kazakhstan.
During the years of Amirlan Aidarbekovich's leadership, fundamental changes took place not only in KazGASA and KAU, but also in the modern education system, which subsequently positively influenced education in the country as a whole. Under the leadership of Amirlan Kusainov, KazGASA acquired the status of a "head" academy in the field of architecture and construction, passed state certification and accreditation. KazGASA has become a multi-level educational institution, including a lyceum, vocational school, college, bachelor's degree, higher special education, master's degree, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, postgraduate and continuing education. On the initiative of Amirlan Aidarbekovich, KazGASA became the first university in Kazakhstan to officially implement international education standards, including the credit system of education. Under the leadership of Amirlan Kussainov, KAU, being a multi-level educational complex (kindergarten - school - college - bachelor's degree - master's degree), became the first university in the post-Soviet space to be admitted to the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
In 2007, KazGASA and KAU established the International Educational Corporation in the form of a university as a single educational, research and production complex. The idea belonged to Amirlan Aidarbekovich Kusainov, as a result of which the university received a new round of development. In October 2018, Amirlan Aidarbekovich defined a modernized course for the development of the IOC, setting it out in the Concept of a new stage in the development of architecture and construction education in Kazakhstan. In the strategy of socio-economic development of the university, A.A. Kusainov. tasks were set aimed at improving personnel policy, digitalizing the university, organizing the educational process, etc.
